WordPerfect menu choices refer to the menu. (Right-click on WordPerfect's top menu bar for a choice of menus.) This is only of interest to anyone who runs WPDOS on a Mac using either my vDosWP or WPDOSBox Mac versions.
The next version of the Mac OS, macOS Catalina, has various security refinements that make it difficult to run software like vDosWP and WPDOSBox. Another major change is that Catalina will not run 32-bit software at all.
This is not a serious problem for WPDOSBox. I've updated everything in the software to 64-bit versions, and I've 'notarized' it to meet Apple's security requirements. When you first launch it under Catalina, it will pop up dialogs asking for permission (click OK) and a dialog offering to open System Preferences. Click the button to open System Preferences, but you don't actually have to do anything there. The next time you run WPDOSBox, it should run smoothly, without these messages appearing. Catalina is more of a problem for vDosWP which uses the Wine software to provide a Windows-like environment for vDos, and Wine has many difficulties under Catalina. I've got an experimental 64-bit version of vDosWP running correctly, but it starts up extremely slowly, and it may or may not get faster by the time Catalina is released this autumn. I'll post the new version when Catalina is released. Meanwhile, if you're using vDosWP on a Mac, you should almost certainly NOT upgrade to Catalina for a while. I'll post more details as I learn them.

This improved method runs on any recent version of Windows. I recommend using it instead of the older method described below.
EDIT (28 November 2008): A corrected and improved version of the macro is now available from the download link shown below for PDFBZ5.WPM. Niek Campagne made the improvements and corrections - and Niek is also the original author of much of the code included in the rest of the macro. My thanks to Niek and to others who made suggestions for this version - especially to Malcolm Wheatley who first had the idea of a PDF-creating macro that would be easy to install.
EDIT: 27 October 2008: The current version of the macro works with the current version of Bullzip PDF Printer. On some XP systems, for reasons that I don't understand, this system simply won't work, but the macro should report correctly that this is the problem when it occurs.
I've been working on a reasonably foolproof method of 'printing' PDF files from WPDOS 5.1, and I think I've got a macro working that should do the job more easily and straightforwardly than the other solutions that are out there. The code is based on a macro by Niek Campagne, but is perhaps easier to install and includes a few extra options.A few steps must be taken to install the macro, however, and it's ABSOLUTELY ESSENTIAL that you follow these steps EXACTLY.
This method works ONLY under Windows 2000 and XP, NOT VISTA!
1. Download and install the Bullzip PDF Printer from

When you install the Bullzip PDF Printer, the installer may ask you if you also want it to download and install a version of Ghostscript. If it asks you this question, answer YES. This step is ESSENTIAL.
2. When the Bullzip PDF Printer is installed in Windows, go to the Printers control panel in Windows, right-click on the Bullzip PDF Printer, select Sharing, choose the option to Share this printer, and accept the default sharename. This step is absolutely ESSENTIAL.
3. From any Windows application, 'print' a document to the Bullzip PDF Printer to make certain that it is working, and so you can see how it works. Do NOT skip this step!!!!
4. Open WPDOS 5.1, use Shift-F1, Location of Files, and VERY CAREFULLY write down the names of the directories for Keyboard/Macro Files and for Printer Files. If no directory is listed, then write down the name of your WPDOS directory itself (typically C:WP51). This step is absolutely essential; make sure you write down the names correctly! The macro will NOT work if you don't use the right directories.
5. Download the linked WP51BULZ.ALL file and copy it into your WPDOS 5.1 Printer Files directory. To download the file, right-click on the following link, and choose Save Link As or some similar option:

Make absolutely certain you put it in the Printer Files directory, and not somewhere else. The macro won't work if you put the ALL file in the wrong directory.
6. Download the linked PDFBZ5.WPM macro file and copy it into your WPDOS 5.1 Keyboard/Macro Files directory. To download the file, right-click on the following link, and choose Save Link As or some similar option.

Make absolutely certain that you put it in your Keyboard/Macro files directory and NOT anywhere else. The macro won't run if WordPerfect can't find it. You can rename the macro to any filename you like (as long as it has a .WPM extension, of course).
7. Run WPDOS 5.1 and open an existing document. Press Alt-F10 and enter PDFBZ5 to run the macro. After a few seconds, the BullZip PDF printer should offer to open the PDF file it has created from your document.
The first time the macro runs, it will install the correct printer driver and create a batch file that it uses for printing; this batch file will be created in the same directory as the document that you are 'printing' to PDF format (and the macro will create another batch file when you 'print' a document in a different directory). You may delete the batch file at any time, but the macro runs more quickly if it does not need to re-create it each time. Also, when the macro creates the batch file, the other window in WPDOS must be empty; but this is not required after the batch file has been created.
You can edit the macro to change a number of options; these are explained in the macro itself. If you don't know how to edit a macro, don't worry about these options.
If you get any error messages or if something does not work, please be absolutely certain that you have followed ALL the instructions EXACTLY. If necessary, print out this message, and ask someone to read it aloud to you while you perform the necessary steps. Only if you are absolutely certain that you have followed the instructions, and you still find problems with the macro, please let me know and I will try my best to fix them.
